Canadian Rockies Youth Network.

The Canadian Rockies Youth Network (CRYN) provides educational programming to help engage more students in conservation, support youth action projects, and most importantly provide a coalition of youth voices when it comes to decision making in the Canadian Rockies.

CRYN is made up of a group of passionate youth, based in Alberta, working to promote youth engagement in the National Parks and on environmental issues. Their mission is to ensure that youth are meaningfully engaged in parks management decisions that will impact them and generations to come.

Starting in 2022, Howl has taken a supporting role in CRYN. We help to connect youth to the landscapes that they seek to protect, bringing knowledge and attention to pressing environmental challenges through that process. We facilitate the development of skills, thus equipping youth with the tools that they need to take action.

Canadian Rockies Youth Summit.

The Canadian Rockies Youth Summit (CRYS) is an annual event designed, managed, and hosted by the CRYN Committee. CRYS provides experiential learning opportunities for youth around the topics of wildlife and nature conservation, climate change, tourism, outdoor recreation, meaningful reconciliation, parks management, and more!

To date, attendees have come from as far south as Crowsnest Pass and the Kainai Reserve, and as far north as Grande Cache, Alberta.

Since its inception in 2019, the Canadian Rockies Youth Summit has been entirely and uniquely student led. With help from the Calgary Foundation, students have created learning experiences, networks and events for other students across the province. This coming year will be no different, and will also draw on the skills of experienced educators from Howl and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society.
